What is Coptis Teapills – Huang Lian Su Wan

Plum Flower – Coptis Teapills (Huang Lian Su Wan) is the single Chinese herb Huang Lian. Known as one of the “three yellows”, it contains berberine alkaloids and is a common addition to many TCM formulas that address bacterial and viral infections (in TCM we describe this function by saying that this herb “clears heat and removes toxins”). This herb can be used singly or as an adjunct to other formulas to augment their heat clearing actions.
