Dried Fox Nut (Euryale Seed) – Qian Shi is a drying herb that helps with digestive difficulties when the system is bogged down by excess dampness and heaviness– sluggish, incomplete digestion, fatigue, loose, watery stools, etc…  (as opposed to things like acid reflux, burning, bad breath, pain and irritation, ulcers, etc…). It also has an affinity to the energetic Kidney and is used in formulas as an astringent to tone the tissue of the bladder and urinary tract (to address things like urinary incontinence and dribbling and frequent nighttime urination).

  • other forms of inappropriate “leakage” (i.e. leukkorhea, spermatorrhea, chronic diarrhea)

  • Dried Fox Nut (Euryale Seed) – Qian Shi

Suggested Usage for Dried Fox Nut (Euryale Seed) – Qian Shi:

Simmer up to 15 grams of the raw root per pint of water for 20-60 minutes. Do not let the water come to hard boil (this will destroy many of the constituents you want in the decoction). Discard the leftover plant material and drink the remaining liquid. This will keep for approximately 48 hours in the fridge before losing its medicinal efficacy.

This herb will more often than not be something you add to a formula for digestive trouble w/watery stools or for other manifestations of “inappropriate” leakage (as opposed to using it as a single).

10-15g in decoction, max 30g.
