What is Lou Lu?:

The Chinese Herb Lou Lu is the dried root of the broadleaf globe thistle (Rhaponticum uniflorum (L.) DC.) that grows in cooler climes of the hills and forests of Northeast Asia (China, Korea, Japan, and Siberia).

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Therapeutic Actions of Lou Lu:

Lou Lu clears heat-toxins to drain abscesses and reduce swelling in the breasts.

Lou Lu promotes lactation in women for whom heat and toxicity are blocking the channels. It is not recommended for use if insufficient lactation is due to deficiencies (of qi and blood) and cold.

Lou Lu can be added to formulas to tret redness and swelling of the skin and throat.

Lou Lu is contraindicated during pregnancy.
