Nu Zhen Zi (Ligustrum Lucidium fruit, glossy privet fruit) extract powder – by Plum Flower is a nourishing herb most notably used in the West for immune support, liver cleansing & detox, and to reduce anxiety and stress. As it is gentle in its actions, it is suitable for long term use.
In TCM clinical practice China, it is often used with liver cancer patients for clinical syndrome amelioration as well as to enhance the therapeutic effects of chemotherapy.
In terms of TCM: Nu zhen zi nourishes Liver yin and tonifies the Kidney (both tonifying yin and supplementing jing (essence) and marrow to address such clinical presentations as dizziness, tinnitus, vertigo, prematurely graying hair, and soreness of the lower back and knees… as stated above, it is a light tonic that does not create stagnation and thus suitable for long-term use.
Nu zhen zi also clears heat in the Liver channel and is said to “brighten the eyes”, making it a go to in TCM for both excess and deficiency based eye issues such as poor night vision, floaters, red/dry eyes, photophobia, etc…
Additionally, Nu zhen zi clears deficiency heat and is commonly used in formula to address irritability, mood swings, tidal fever, night sweats, hot flashes, and steaming bones (i.e. menopause symptomology).
