Gou Teng (Uncaria Gambir Vine Thorn) is an herb used in Chinese Medicine for two main purposes:

  1. It is considered an essential herb for sedating Liver fire, extinguishing internal wind, and alleviating spasms and is used to address such clinical presentations as: convulsions (infantile and adult), clenching of the jaw, tremors, seizures, high fever, and eclampsia.
  2. It drains Liver heat and pacifies rising Liver yang patterns (i.e. anchors Liver yang) that may present clinically as headaches, irritability, red eyes, and dizziness. In China, this pattern is often the cause of hypertension, and Gou Teng is used to control high blood pressure. (e.g. in the formula Tian Ma Gou Teng)

 

 

 

 

Herbal Ingredients in Gou Teng (Uncaria Gambir Vine Thorn) – Liquid Extract (Tincture):

Dosage Instructions for Gou Teng (Uncaria Gambir Vine Thorn) – Liquid Extract (Tincture):

  • Shake Well before each use.
  • Maintenance Serving: Dissolve 1-2 droppers (1/2 tsp.) in warm water or juice 2-3 times daily.
  • Augmented Serving: Take 1 full tsp. 2 to 3 times daily in warm water or juice or as directed by a qualified herbalist familiar with the use of Chinese herbs and formulas.
  • To evaporate alcohol place in hot water.

Amount: varies: 1 oz. = approximately 10 days supply at bottle dosage.
