Hu Zhang Tang (Polygonum cuspidatum) – Liquid Extract:

Hu Zhang Tang (Polygonum cuspidatum– aka Giant knotweed root, Japanese knotwood root) has multiple uses in Chinese medicine:

  1. It activates blood circulation to relieve pain with blood stagnation at its root to address: amenorrhea with sharp, stabbing abdominal pain; joint pain & swelling (bi zheng pain/painful obstruction syndrome); and pain, bruising, and swelling from traumatic injuries;
  2.  clears damp heat from the Liver and Gallbladder channels and is used to address jaundice, gallstones, and damp-heat leukorrhea (i.e. the discharge is foul-smelling);
  3. clear heat-toxins both internally and externally to address internal abscesses and swellings, burns, and snakebite. This herb is often used in pain patches and (topical) analgesic sprays.

Safety notes:

This herb is ontraindicated during pregnancy.

Use caution for those taking insulin, sulfonylureas and other antidiabetics such as tolbutamide (Orinase), glipizide (Glucotrol) and glyburide (DiaBeta/Micronase) as there may be a synergistic effect leading to hypoglycemia.

Shake Well before each use.
Maintenance Serving: Dissolve 1-2 droppers (1/2 tsp.) in warm water or juice 2-3 times daily.
Augmented Serving: Take 1 full tsp. 2 to 3 times daily in warm water or juice or as directed by a qualified herbalist
To evaporate alcohol place in hot water.
Amount: varies: 1 oz. = approximately 10 days supply at bottle dosage.
