What is Plum Flower – Nei Xiao Luo Li Teapills?

Plum Flower – Nei Xiao Luo Li teapills is a Chinese Herbal Medicine formula that can help soften and disperse bothersome nodules, lumps, bumps, and nodes in and under the skin that are a result of excess phlegm in the body. In the context of this formula, phlegm can be thought of as any invisible by-products of the body’s metabolic processes- when the body cannot properly excrete all of these waste products, they can accumulate and appears as lumps or nodules.

It should be noted here that this formula is specifically indicated for use in cases where heat signs are present in the swellings themselves-  redness, pain, warm/hot to the touch, etc. This formula can also help address internal nodules and swellings if heat signs are generally present in the person’s pattern- dark/scanty urine, red tongue, night sweats (to name only a few); but this formula will not be helpful if the swellings are due to “cold”- this is the type of thing a trained TCM practitioner can help determine in consultation.

That being said, this formula can also be helpful to address some of the following symptoms/syndromes:

  • lymphadenopathy, lymphadenitis, lymphangitis (variations of infection and/or swelling of the lymph glands)
  • thyroid nodules
  • hyperthyroidism
  • scrofular swellings
  • goiter
  • fibroids, cysts, and breast masses
