Product Description

Prickly Ash (Szechuan/Sichuan Pepper) | Premium Raw Herb

Prickly Ash (Szechuan/Sichuan Pepper), known as Hua jiao in Chinese medicine, is the dried outer seed pod from an aromatic shrub in the citrus family known commonly as Szechuan pepper, which is native to China and now found throughout the temperate zones of China, Japan, the Himalayas and North America.

This herb is commonly used in Asian cooking for the unique tart, peppery flavor and tingling mouth sensation it imparts… Its actions on the body are mainly warming and stimulating to the digestion (when it is sluggish and “cold”). This herb is also used internally to treat parasite infestations in the intestines (that are causing pain and vomiting) as well as externally to address parasitic skin infections that manifest in pruritis and eczema.

Which concerns is it good for?

  • sluggish digestion with bloating and dull pain
  • associated diarrhea (loose & watery type)
  • addresses internal parasites causing vomiting and pain; use externally for parasitic skin infections
