The Chinese Herb Xian Feng Cao is the dried aerial parts of the small flowering herb bidens (Bidens Pilosa L. var. minor (BL) Sherff.). Bidens is native to the Americas but now found throughout the sub-tropics of the world and has a wide variety of medicinal uses in various traditional and folk medicinal systems. Its use in TCM is discussed below.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Therapeutic Actions of Xian Feng Cao:

Xian Feng Cao reduces inflammation, clears heat, and promotes urination to address a variety of clinical presentations to include appendicitis, nephritis, dysentery, chronic UTI’s, and hepatitis.

Xian Feng Cao reduces swelling, drains pus, and promotes healing and the generation of flesh and is used in this regard to treat hemorrhoids. It can be used topically to treat toxic swelling as well.
