Nettle is native to Europe, North Africa and parts of Asia. Its high nutritional content including polyphenols has made it a traditionally popular food source. Nettle leaves are widely used as a tonic for overall body health and other benefits including:

How to Use

  1. Preparation: Place one tea bag in a cup of boiling water.
  2. Steeping Time: Let it steep for 3-5 minutes
  3. Frequency: For optimal benefits, drink 2-3 cups daily.

Thoughts/Considerations:

Nettles is my favorite herb for overall nutrition. It has a very high mineral content, containing calcium, magnesium, silica, as well as many trace minerals. Steeping it up to 20 minutes in very hot water and covering the infusion will extract more of these components from the leaf. Also, don’t be afraid to use more than one teabag (if you don’t mind its particular mineral-salty taste). It is widely known in Western Herbalism for being a blood and lymph cleanser as well (i.e. an alterative herb).

Dosage Instructions for Absolute Nettle Tea:

  • To achieve best results, start your regimen with at least 3 to 5 tea bags daily for 1 to 2 weeks. After that, you may lower the daily dosage for everyday maintenance.
  • Proper Brewing will ensure that you get all the benefits this tea can offer.
  • Steep 1 or 2 teabags in hot water for 5 to 8 minutes for hot tea.
  • Use more tea bags for a stronger tea. Tea bags can be reused until the water runs clear.
  • Steep in hot water and refrigerate or add ice for iced tea.
  • Squeeze the tea bag gently into the cup to release more beneficial ingredients.
  • Sweeten with your favorite sweetener if desired.
