Read moreBlack Haw (Viburnus prunifolium) is best known as a women’s herb that helps to relieve pain from uterine cramping. This anti-spasmodic, pain-relieving effect extends throughout the lower region of the body, to include the lower urinary tract (ureters, urethra, bladder, and testes) as well as the gall bladder & bile ducts– any spasmodic pain that starts in the groin and radiates down the thigh… this herb can also be used to relax the bronchioles (think asthma/wheezing/dyspnea) as well as the nervous tension & anxiety (i.e. “emotional” spasms”, so to speak).
As a woman’s herb, this herb also has a nourishing, tonifying effect on the tissues of the uterus (mucosal lining) and has been traditionally used in formula to help women prepare for labor as well as to help them with post-partum recovery. Furthermore, it has traditional history of use in cases of threatened miscarriages and for women with a history of difficult pregnancies; but please do not try to use this product to treat yourself for this issue unless you really know what you are doing– you should see a doctor and/or an herbalist with experience in women’s health in cases of difficult pregnancies.
