Healthy Joints Combo (Xiao Huo Luo Dan) – by Lao Wei is their version of a classical TCM formula (c. 1100 AD) that deals with aching and/or numbness in the limbs that gets worse in cold & damp conditions. Often the person for whom this formula would be appropriate is also lethargic, fatigued, or perhaps short of breath (i.e. deficient in their overall energy levels). Symptoms & conditions this formula may help with include:
- numbness and pain in the limbs and extremities
- osteoarthritis
- rheumatoid arthritis
- bone-spurs
- peripheral nervous disorders (tics, tremors, spasms etc…)
- post-stoke hemiplagia
Other notes:
Do not use if there are heat signs present in the joints (e.g. redness and swelling).
This is a harsh formula; it is hot and dispersing in nature and only meant for short-term use (usually no more than 2 weeks w/out a break). Discontinue its use when aching or numbness in the extremities has reduced and replace with a gentler formula (e.g. Du Huo Ji Sheng Wan)
Prepared aconite is considered slightly toxic in TCM theory. Additionally, this formula is quite hot in temperature and very “energetic” in its ability to move out cold and stagnation; thus we recommend using this formula in consult with a trained TCM practitioner.
This formula is 100% prohibited during pregnancy!
As a dietary supplement, take 6 pills 2 times a day with warm water.
Contraindicated during pregnancy.
