Yunnan Baiyao is commonly used as a pre-race treatment for horses that bleed due to respiratory stress. This condition is also called EIPH or Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage. This is a condition which leads to blood filling the airways of the lungs after intense strenuous activity.
Yunnan Baiyao may significantly decrease the amount of time of the bleed. It is believed that Yunnan Baiyao works by activating the platelets, which are the small blood components that help make blood clot. Blood clots are the first step in a scab. They are like little plugs or corks in the way they stop hemorrhage.

How much to give? These are general guidelines:
