Question 1

What is Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan (Respiryn) used for?

Accepted Answer

Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan, also known as Respiryn, is a classic TCM formula used to clear heat from the Lungs, resolve phlegm, and relieve cough. It is traditionally indicated for productive cough with thick yellow or green mucus, chest tightness, and respiratory discomfort associated with Lung heat and phlegm accumulation. This formula is commonly used for acute or chronic respiratory conditions where heat and phlegm are the underlying TCM pattern.

Question 2

How do you take Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan (Respiryn)?

Accepted Answer

Qing Qi Hua Tan Wan is taken orally in pill form, typically swallowed with warm water to support digestion and absorption. Follow the dosage instructions on the product label, and consult a licensed TCM practitioner or healthcare professional to confirm the appropriate dose for your specific condition. It is generally recommended to avoid spicy, greasy, or cold foods while taking this formula to support its effectiveness.

Question 3

What does 'Qing Qi Hua Tan' mean, and what are the key ingredients in this formula?

Accepted Answer

The name 'Qing Qi Hua Tan' translates to 'Clear Qi, Transform Phlegm,' reflecting the formula's dual action of clearing Lung heat (Qing Qi) and dissolving phlegm (Hua Tan). Key ingredients typically include Ban Xia (Pinellia rhizome) to dry dampness and transform phlegm, Dan Nan Xing (bile-processed Arisaema) to clear heat-phlegm, Gua Lou Ren (Trichosanthes seed) to moisten and expel phlegm, and Huang Qin (Scutellaria root) to clear Lung heat. Together, these herbs work synergistically to address the root pattern of heat-phlegm obstructing the Lungs.
