What is Plum Flower – Qing Fei Yi Huo Tablets:

Plum Flower – Qing Fei Yi Huo Tablets is a Chinese Medicine formula that addresses what in the language of TCM theory is called Lung Fire. This condition is marked by a burning sensation in the lungs and a dry, barking cough with thick, yellow phlegm that is difficult to expectorate. Other symptoms that point toward the appropriate use of this formula are impacted or obstructed stool, abdominal discomfort, and thirst**. Qing Fei Yi Huo Tablets is indicated for use with acute and chronic bronchitis, pulminary abscesses, and tuberculosis; also for recurring coughs of this nature that lodge in the same part of the upper respiratory tract.

This is strictly a short-term use formula for acute and relatively severe complaints. Its use should be discontinued as soon as heat signs subside– i.e. not for use for more than three consecutive days (after which a milder formula should be substituted in).

Another point of caution: this formula contains a respectable amount of the Chinese Herb Da Huang, which is a potent laxative. Overdosing with this formula can cause explosive diarrhea. Da Huang is also contraindicated for use during pregnancy and during mensturation.

**Symptoms of Yangming Fu-organ syndrome
